Kell Brook meets Rafal Jackiewicz in Sheffield tonight

Former British welterweight champion Kell Brook is now just one step away from a world title shot as the Sheffield fighter takes on former world title challenger Rafal Jackiewicz in his home city in an eliminator for a shot at the WBA 147lb title.

The 25 year-old impressed in the last bout, overcoming former world champion Lovemore N’dou in a one-sided unanimous decision victory at the Hillsborough Leisure Centre and now meets the one-time European welterweight title holder at the Ponds Forge Arena.

Jackiewicz, 34, has nine defeats in his 48 contests, most of which were suffered in his early career and has since built a reputation with victories over Jan Zaveck and Delvin Rodriguez.

Former IBF champion Zaveck avenged his 2008 loss last year, beating ‘Braveheart’ in his only world title attempt and the Pole will hope to overcome Brook and gain himself another chance.

Ticket for the bout sold out last week and with talk of negotiations with IBF champion Andre Berto, Brook will need to impress to set up a potential challenge against the American two-time world title holder.

Kell Brook v Rafal Jackiewicz is live on Sky Sports 1 tonight from 8.30pm
