Narvaez pencilled in for October 22 date

WBO and WBC bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (26-1, 18 KO’s) will defend his belts for the last time against two-weight world champion Omar Narvaez (35-0-2, 19 KO’s) at the MSG WaMu Theater in New York tonight.

The 28 year-old was originally given a date of November 5th for his return to the ring following a prolonged spell out, but the date was brought forward as to not clash with other fights.

'The Filipino Flash' is set to move up to 122lbs win or lose and has the possibility of rematches with Fernando Montiel and Vic Darchinyan on the horizon.

Narvaez, 36, who has held WBO titles at both 112lbs and 115lbs, moves up a further weight in an attempt to dethrone the 118lb unified champion and is yet to lose in 37 contests.

In chief support, 26-0 Mikey Garcia, who has an 85% knockout rate, tackles Juan Carlos Martinez in what should be another routine win at featherweight.
