Free agent Ishe Smith call for Peter Quillin

The 33 year-old has fought some hard fights over the past four years, beating Pawel Wolak over ten rounds and taking Daniel Jacobs and Fernando Guerrero the distance in close contests and believes a fight with Quillin would bulk up the Staples Center card.

“Quillin and myself want the fight. We spoke about the possibility at the Khan post-fight press conference,” Smith told World Boxing News.

“I have a lot of respect for Peter, we spoke as men and nothing dumb or heated was exchanged. It’s a crowd pleaser and a fight for the fans, he’s 160 and so am I.”

Former Contender star Smith stopped Alexander Quiroz last November after two rounds and has since found it difficult to attract a fight. The Las Vegas-based fighter is currently without a promoter and he believes that negotiating himself should make the fight easier to make.

“The best thing about this fight is that I am a free agent,” he stated.

“This is not a hard fight to make for either side. Everyone knows I beat Guerrero, I don’t need to say that. I also believe I will beat Peter too.

“Erik Gomez and I exchanged tweets yesterday about the fight, we will see what happens. Hopefully it will get done on Oct 15 B-Hop undercard,” added Smith.
